Auto Sentry flex Replacing X10 Coin Acceptor

Tools Needed

• 11/32” nut driver or ratchet
• Small Phillips or flat head screwdriver

We estimate that it will take 2 to 4 hours to perform this procedure. Keep all hardware organized as
you work.

WARNING: Please have a certified electrician check voltages on the power supply before
installing new components. The voltage should be 24 volts.

Powering Down the Auto Sentry flex

WARNING: Failure to turn off the Auto Sentry increases the risk of serious bodily injury or death;
and also, may cause the credit card reader to go into a tamper state and if that happens, the credit card reader will have to be replaced.

1. On the site server desktop, click on the VNC icon for the Auto Sentry flex.
2. On the menu bar, click the Windows Flag icon.
3. Click the Shutdown button.
4. Wait until the Auto Sentry flex display goes to a white screen.
5. With the hex key, open the rear doors of the Auto Sentry flex.
6. Turn off the power switch inside the Auto Sentry head.
7. Turn off both breakers inside the Auto Sentry head by pressing the blue buttons on the breakers until they click out. 
8. Turn off the breaker inside the Auto Sentry base by pressing the blue button on the breaker until it clicks out.
9. Shut off the electricity to the Auto Sentry by turning off the Auto Sentry breaker inside the ICS power distribution box.
   
   
    

Disassembly to Replace Coin Acceptor

1. On the right side of the coin hopper drawer, disconnect the main coin hopper harness which is located by the coin hoppers.
2. Remove (2) small Phillips screws from coin stopper.
3. Remove (4) #8 nylon nuts.
4. Remove coin acceptor from unit and place new coin acceptor in.
5. Secure with (4) #8 nylon nuts and secure coin stopper with (2) small Phillips head screws.
6. Reconnect power connectors and plug in communication cable.
   
   

Programming New Coin Acceptor

1. Slide the front cover up and identify the three controls to be used in this procedure:
   • The reset push button near center bottom.
   • 16 position rotary switch to the right of the push-button. (#0 is the normal RUN position, #1-#6 are for learning each of 6 possible coin types that can be accepted)
   • LED indicator half way up on the right side. (Green in RUN mode, red in LEARN mode)
2. Turn the rotary switch clockwise to one of the LEARN positions #1-#6 (for example, pick #3 for learning the 3rd coin type) and observe the LED turns red to indicate it is now ready to learn.
3. Show the unit 6 samples of the coin by depositing them into the acceptor as usual. It is best to use 6 different coins since there are typically slight variations from coin-to-coin.
4. After the 6th sample coin is deposited, the LED will flash red-green a few times to indicate the LEARN procedure is complete and the coin parameters are stored in memory.
5. Slide the front cover open again and turn the rotary switch back to position #0 and observe the LED turning green. Check that you have not accidentally turned it too far to position #15 which is a field test function position, in which it will not accept coins.
6. Slide the front cover back down and you should now be able to accept the new coin.
