Adding the Auto Passport All-in-one RFID Reader top the Wash Valet eXP
Tools Required
Prior to performing this procedure you will need to have the following tools:
- #1 Flat head screw driver

We estimate that it will take 30 minutes to perform this procedure, time will vary based on skill set.
NOTE: Keep all hardware organized as you work.
Parts Included
Powering Down the Wash Valet eXP
- On the site server desktop, click on the VNC icon for the Wash Vaslet eXP.
- On the menu bar, click on the Windows flag icon.
- Click the Shutdown button.
- Wait until the Wash Valet eXP display goes to a white screen.
- With the hex key, open the rear doors of the Wash Valet eXP.
- Turn off the power switch inside the Wash Valet eXP.
- Turn off both breakers inside the Wash Valet eXP by clicking the blue buttons on the breakers until they click out.
- Shut off the electricity to the Wash Valet eXP by turning off the breakers inside the ICS power distribution box.
Installing the All-in-one RFID Reader
- Disconnect the power and COM cables from the bill dispenser on the left side and remove the bill dispenser.
- Locate the DINRAIL on the back wall in the right side of the EXP.
- There (2) relays attached to the DINRAIL.
- Slide them to the left so you have about 3 inches of empty DINRAIL space for terminal blocks.
- Attach the terminal blocks provided to the DINRAIL in the following order, from left to right. All the terminal blocks should be attached in the same orientation, with the hook on the back of the block over the top edge of the DINRAIL and the quick release clip at the bottom edge.
- Large grey lock terminal block
- Orange terminal block
- Black terminal block
- Orange terminal block
- Yellow terminal block
- White terminal block with cover
- Large grey lock terminal block
- Attach the power label provided to the back wall below the terminal blocks.
- On the inside bottom of the right side of the EXP, attach one end of the black wire provided to any available green/yellow ground terminal block. Attach one end of the orange wire provided to any available orange terminal block.
- Connect the other end of the orange wire to the top terminal on the new orange terminal block at the far left on the back wall identified as 24V+. Attach the other end of the black wire to the top terminal on the black terminal block on the back wall identified as 24V-.
- Locate the COM cables provided with grey insulation, silver COM connector on one end, and 3 wires on the other end. Attach the COM connector to any available COM port on the motherboard assembly in the upper left side of the EXP.
- Route the grey cable toward the back of the EXP, across to the right side, and through the opening in the rear right corner of the middle shelf. Below the shelf, route the cable through the opening in the rear bottom corner in the center wall to the right side to where the new terminal blocks are. Connect the red wire identified as Tx to the top terminal of the orange terminal block in the center. Connect the black wire identified as Rx to the top terminal of the yellow terminal block. Connect the
white wire identified as GND ground to the top terminal of the white terminal block.
- Locate the new APALLINONE antenna you want to connect to this set of terminal blocks. After mounting the antenna on the truss, route the other end of the cable through the conduit, into the base of the EXP, up through the opening in the bottom shelf of the EXP, toward the back where the opening in the center wall is. Route the cable through the opening to the right side and connect all 5 wires to the bottom terminals on the new terminal blocks as follows:
- The white wire identified as 24V+ to the bottom terminal of the orange terminal block to the far left.
- The black wire identified as 24V- to the bottom terminal of the black terminal block.
- The white wire identified as Tx to the bottom terminal on the orange terminal block in the middle.
- The black wire identified as Rx to the bottom of the yellow terminal block.
- The black wire identified as GROUND to the bottom terminal of the white terminal block.
- Route all your wires neatly along with the other wires inside the EXP and keep them secure and out of the way with wire ties.
- Reinstall the bill dispenser in the left side of the EXP. Reconnect the power and COM cables to the bill dispenser.
- Contact ICS Technical Support for any configurating that may be necessary to make the new RFID antenna work.
Powering On the Wash Valet eXP
- Reconnect the power to the ICS power distribution box by turning on the Wash Valet eXP breaker
inside the ICS power distribution box. - Turn the breaker on inside the Wash Valet eXP by pressing the blue button on the breaker until it
clicks in. - Inside the left door of the Wash Valet eXP, turn on the power switch to boot the system.
