Auto Sentry flex
Completion Time
We estimate that it will take 30 minutes to perform this procedure. Keep all hardware organized as
you work.
WARNING: Please have a certified electrician check voltages on the power supply before
installing new components. The voltage should be 24 volts.
Power Down the Auto Sentry flex
WARNING: Failure to turn off the Auto Sentry increases the risk of serious bodily injury or death;
and also, may cause the credit card reader to go into a tamper state and if that happens, the credit card reader will have to be replaced.
- On the site server desktop, click on the VNC icon for the Auto Sentry.
- On the menu bar, click the Windows flag icon.
- Click the Shutdown button.
- Wait until the Auto Sentry display goes to a white screen.
- Open the rear doors of the Auto Sentry.
- Turn off the power switch inside the Auto Sentry.
- Turn off both breakers inside the Auto Sentry by pressing the blue buttons on the breakers until
they click out. - Shut off the electricity to the Auto Sentry by turning off the Auto Sentry breaker inside
the ICS power distribution box.
Hardware conversion for the Auto Sentry flex
- Open the bottom door to the Auto Sentry.
- Unscrew any cable clamps holding the bill dispenser cables to the drawer and remove the cables
from the drawer and bill dispenser. - Unbolt the bill dispenser from the tray in the base of the Auto Sentry flex, and remove the bill
dispenser. - Locate the set of terminal blocks included. Attach them to the DINRAIL on the left wall of the Auto
Sentry flex base and apply the description label below the terminal blocks. -
Connect the COM cable to COM port 7 on the motherboard.
NOTE: Locate the unused pair of 24V wires with quick disconnects in the left side of the Auto Sentry head by the front wall (orange and black wires are usually reserved for a gift card dispenser).
NOTE: If there is not an extra pair because they are in use for the gift card dispenser, disconnect the orange and black wires to the gift card dispenser at the quick disconnects and patch in the new power cable to the RFID reader. Be certain to connect black wire to black wire and orange wire to orange wire.
- Route both cables to the left below the display bracket, around the coin dispenser cup, and through the
round opening between the head and the base. Slide the heat shrink tubing on the cables. In the base, route the cables through the rectangular hole at the back of the left-side drawer slide bracket. Position the heat shrink tubing between the rectangular openings. Secure the heat shrink tubing with wire ties. Use 2 wire ties to secure these cables to the other cables from the head unit to the base.
- The All-In-One RFID Reader/Antenna has 5 wires in a single cable. This cable needs to be fed
through the pedestal of the Auto Sentry flex. In most cases, this would be through the conduit for
the power and network cable for the Auto Sentry flex. - Connect all 3 cables to the assembly of the Auto Sentry flex terminal blocks as follow:
- Connect the power cable from the main harness to the top terminals of the orange and black terminal
blocks on the left side of the terminal block assembly – orange wire to orange terminal block (24V+),
black wire to black terminal block (24V-). - Attach the COM cable from the motherboard to the top terminals of the orange, yellow, and white
terminal blocks on the right side of the terminal block assembly – red wire to orange terminal block
(Tx), black wire to yellow terminal block (Rx), and the white wire to the white terminal block (GND). - Attach the power wires marked (24V+) and (24V-) from the RFID reader to the bottom terminals of the
orange and black terminal blocks on the left-side of the terminal block assembly – white wire to orange
terminal block (24V DC+), and the black wire to black terminal block (24V DC-). - Attach the data wires from the All-in-One RFID reader/antenna to the bottom terminals of the orange, yellow, white, and green/yellow terminal blocks on the right side of the terminal block assembly – the white wire marked Tx to the orange terminal block(Tx), the black wire marked Rx to the yellow terminal block(Rx), the black wire marked Ground to the white terminal block(GND), and the black wire marked Shield(SH) to the green/yellow terminal block.
- Connect the power cable from the main harness to the top terminals of the orange and black terminal
- Re-install the bill dispenser drawer and the bill dispenser.
Power On the Auto Sentry flex
- Reconnect the power to the ICS power distribution box by turning on the Auto Sentry breaker
inside the ICS power distribution box. - Turn the breakers on inside the Auto Sentry flex by pressing the blue buttons on the breakers until
they click in. - Inside the Auto Sentry, turn on the power switch to boot the system.
