- Remove the LCD screen assembly from the back of the Auto Sentry and place it face down on a soft surface.
NOTE: Be careful not to scratch or nick the LCD screen. - Remove (6) 3/8” nuts securing the touch screen metal bezel. Remove the bottom nuts first, and hold the bracket as you remove the top nuts. Hold the touch screen in place as you remove the bezel, then remove the touch screen. Be careful to avoid getting fingerprints on the touch screen. If it needs to be cleaned, use an ammonia-free glass cleaner and a micro-fiber cloth.
Remove Standard Security Divider Wall
If your Auto Sentry has a second security wall, this is called the Standard Security Divider Wall (AS3ENCSECW) and it needs to be removed. If your Auto Sentry only has one security wall inside the head, then go to step #22. Follow these steps to remove the Standard Security Divider Wall:
- Using the Phillips screw driver, remove the condensation cup.
- On the left side of the Auto Sentry, disconnect the two cables from the bill acceptor and set them to the side.
- Loosen the two screws holding the bottom of the bill acceptor with a Phillips screwdriver, but do not remove them.
- Remove the (2) 11/32” nuts holding the top of the bill acceptor. Pull the bill acceptor back and then up to remove it.
- Remove all (4) 7/16” nuts holding the Standard Security Divider Wall: (2) top and (2) bottom.
- Remove the top and bottom mounting brackets.
- Tilt the Standard Security Divider Wall and remove it from the back of the Auto Sentry.
Remove the (4) 3/8” nuts holding the Verifone UX300 card reader inside the Auto Sentry. It is a tight fit to maneuver
around the High Strength Security Divider Wall. A ratchet with a long wobble-tip extension is recommended. Be careful
not to put too much pressure on the screw studs as they may snap off the inside of the cabinet.
NOTE: The upper right screw stud and lower left screw stud have ground cables on them.
- Remove the ground cables before removing the card reader. See Figure 26.
- Remove the four cables from the bottom of the card reader. See Figure 27.
Important: Do not pull on the wires, two of the cable connectors have locking clips. Use a flat head screwdriver, if necessary, to depress the locking clip. Remove the cables from the unit. - If installed, a vibration senor is attached to your High Strength Security Divider Wall, then follow these steps:
- Remove the cables from the tamper-proof vibration sensor. See Figure 28.
- Note the location of the vibration detector on the High Strength Security Divider Wall (you will be instructed to reinstall the sensor on the new High Strength Security Divider Wall at this same location).
- Remove the (4) 3/8" nuts and washers securing the vibration sensor to the High Strength Security Divider Wall.
- Remove the High Strength Security Divider Wall. (The original High Strength Divider Wall will be removed and replaced with a new High Strength Security Divider Wall.)
Reassembly
- Put in place the new High Strength Security Divider Wall with the same hardware but do not re-install the nuts yet. The notch goes where the credit card reader is located.
- Using the 3/8" socket, install the vibration detector on the High Strength Security Divider Wall at the same location where you removed it previously with the same hardware. Plug in the cables. Tie the sensor wires, be careful not to pinch the wires.
- Locate the new card reader, and connect the wires, making sure to firmly press them in place until they lock or are fully seated.
- Connect all the cables to the card reader before you install the reader.
- The copper wire plugs into the card reader and then connects to the contactless reader.
- The network cable plugs into the card reader and then connects to the contactless reader.
- The yellow and black power cable plugs and locks into the card reader and then connects to the power supply.
- The USB cable plugs and locks into the card reader and then connects to the motherboard.
Tie up the USB keypad cable out of the way as the keypad will not be used with the new Verifone card reader (this was used for the prior debit card feature).
- Attach the drainage hose by firmly pressing it on to the card reader.
- After all cables and drainage hose are attached, secure the new card reader to the inside of the Auto Sentry using the wobble extension to install the new (4) 7/16" long standoffs with a 5/16" socket. Remember to replace the two ground wires over the upper right and lower left screw studs before installing the nuts. Make sure there are no wires pinched between the card reader and the Auto Sentry. Then carefully tighten the nuts.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN – Be careful not to put too much torque on the screw studs as they may snap off the inside of the cabinet.
- Install the touch screen. Verify the side with the "Viewing Face” label is facing the front of the Auto Sentry. The bottom of the glass will rest on top of three standoffs that have clear rubber tubing around them. Be sure the ribbon cable is pointed up. Hold the glass in place until the touch screen bracket is installed. Be careful to avoid getting fingerprints on the touch screen or any type of lint or hair that sticks to the screen. If it needs to be cleaned, use an ammonia-free glass cleaner and a micro-fiber cloth.
- Attach the touch screen metal bezel: The side with the thinner, darker color foam will go toward the touch screen. Also, the long side of the bezel with three cut-outs is the top, the side with two cut-outs is the bottom.
- Align the (6) screw holes in the bezel with the (6) standoffs on the front of the Auto Sentry and install the (6) 3/8” nuts.
- Tighten the screws until the distance between the front wall of the Auto Sentry and the trailing edge
of the bezel is ½". - Re-install the display bracket. Be careful not to damage the touch screen or pinch the ribbon cable between the display and the touch screen. Secure the display bracket with the (5) 7/16” bolts.
- Re-install the angled-bracket underneath the display bracket with the same 7/16” hardware removed earlier.
- Re-install the angled L-bracket between the display bracket and the High Strength Security Divider Wall. Use the opposite method to install, start the bracket on the stud on the display bracket first, then rotate counter-clockwise onto the screw stud on the High Strength Security Divider Wall. Attach the 7/16” nuts and washers but do not tighten.
- Re-attach the cables to the LCD panel and the touch screen control card:
- Take the Backlight power cable with the exposed pin side of the connector goes toward the back of the display and slide it up. It will slip into place, then take finger and push in to lock in place.
- The USB cable for the touch screen control card only goes in one way.
- The touch screen ribbon cable need to have gold metal facing away from you, and then slide it in the control card, and then take your fingertip and click to close the locking flap. No need to jam it in. It should easily go in and click.
- Slide up the LVDS cable with the exposed pin side of the connector facing the back of the LVDS Touch Screen Display and it will find it's port easily, then take your fingertip and click it in place.
- Re-install the (4) 7/16” nuts and washers on the four screw studs holding the High Strength Security Divider Wall, but do not tighten. Tighten the L-bracket to the High Strength Security Divider Wall first, then tighten the L-bracket to the display bracket, then tighten the (4) nuts for the High Strength Security Divider Wall.
- Re-install the Standard Security Divider Wall. Insert through the door opening on an angle. Be careful not to hit the standoffs for mounting the bill acceptor. Re-install the top and bottom retaining brackets, the four sets of 7/16” nuts and washers. Tighten the Standard Security Divider Wall in place.
- Reconnect the two cables for the bill acceptor, and then re-install the bill acceptor. Attach the bottom of the bill acceptor to the two loosened screws at the bottom, then push onto the standoffs at the top. Attach the 11/32” nuts to the standoffs with the nut driver. Then tighten the screws on the bottom with a Phillips screwdriver. Be sure not to pinch any wires behind the bill acceptor.
- Re-install the printer to the printer bracket and push the two blue buttons until they snap into place.
- Re-install the motherboard. See the slotted holes on the back of the motherboard. Position those two holes over the screw pins on the right wall inside the Auto Sentry and push forward. Align the screw holes on the back edge of the motherboard with the two standoffs on the right wall of the Auto Sentry. Install the two screws and tighten them with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Reconnect the Molex power connectors for the motherboard.
- Re-attach all other cables to the motherboard exactly as they were before you started.
- Re-install the coin hopper drawer. Re-attach the cable chain with cable. Plug in the coin hopper cable and re-secure to the coin hopper drawer.
- Tighten all wire clamps and use wire ties where necessary.
- Use a tie base and wire tie to secure any unused connectors and excess slack from used connectors to the coin hopper drawer.
- In the Auto Sentry, carefully push in the coin hopper drawer while checking to make sure no cables are pinching or being cut by the drawer.
