Disassemble
- Open both back doors of the Auto Sentry. On the right side, disconnect the cable to the coin hoppers. Disconnect the cable chain from the cable bracket on the right side of the drawer using a flat screwdriver and lay the cable aside. Press the release tab on both sides of the drawer and remove the drawer from the Auto Sentry – on the left side push down, on the right side push up.
- On the right side, disconnect all cables from the LCD panel and touch screen – LVDS cable from motherboard, USB cable to touch screen control card, ribbon cable to touch screen, and cable to backlight power pigtail. Disconnect the power connector to the motherboard.
- Make note of the location of all the connectors at the back of the motherboard, they will need to go back to the same place they are now. If necessary, make a label to attach to each connector and number it with the port on the motherboard. Remove all the connectors and lay them to the side. Remove the two screws holding the back end of the motherboard to the Auto Sentry wall using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the motherboard toward you and to the left to remove it from the screw pins holding the front. Place in a safe location outside the Auto Sentry.
- Locate the L- bracket between the display bracket and the center security wall. Remove the nuts (7/16”) and the washers, but not the L-bracket.
- Remove the 4 nuts (7/16”) and washers holding the center security wall, two on top and two on the bottom. Push the wall to the left as far as possible. Rotate the L – bracket clockwise to remove it from the screw stud on the security wall, then pull off of the screw stud on the display bracket.
- Pull on the blue buttons on the receipt printer bracket until they click. Then pick up the printer and move it out of the way.
- Remove the small retaining bracket at the bottom of the display bracket (7/16” nuts).
- Remove the five bolts (7/16”) holding the display bracket to the front of the Auto Sentry. Remove the bottom bolts first and hold the bracket as you remove the top bolts. Then remove the LCD screen assembly from the back of the Auto Sentry. Be careful not to hit anything and nick the LCD screen.
- Remove the six nuts (3/8”) holding the touch screen metal bezel. Remove the bottom nuts first, and hold the bracket as you remove the top nuts. Hold the touch screen in place as you remove the bezel, then remove the touch screen. Be careful to avoid getting fingerprints on the touch screen. If it needs to be cleaned, use an ammonia-free glass cleaner and a micro-fiber cloth.
- On the left side of the Auto Sentry, remove the bill acceptor cassette. Loosen the two screws holding the bottom of the bill acceptor with a Phillips screwdriver, but do not remove them. Remove the two nuts (11/32”) holding the top of the bill acceptor. Pull the bill acceptor back and then up to remove it. Disconnect the cables to the bill acceptor and set it to the side.
- Remove all four nuts (7/16”) holding the left security wall, two top and two bottom. Remove the top and bottom mounting brackets. Tilt the wall as shown in the second picture below and remove it from the back of the Auto Sentry.
- Remove the four nuts (3/8”) holding the CPMOCARDREADUS inside the Auto Sentry. It is a tight fit to maneuver around the security walls. A ratchet with a long wobble-tip extension is advised. Be careful not to put too much pressure on the screw studs as they may snap off the inside of the cabinet. Note that the upper right screw stud and lower left screw stud have ground cables on them. Remove them before removing the card reader.
- Remove the four cables from the bottom of the card reader. Two of the cable connectors have locking clips – don’t just pull on the wires. Use a flat headed screwdriver if necessary to depress the locking clip. Remove the drain hose from the bottom of the unit. Remove the card reader from the unit.
- Remove the 4 nuts (11/32”) holding the pin pad. Remove the cable retaining bracket from the lower left screw stud. Remove the pin pad from the Auto Sentry wall, remove the cable, and remove the pin pad from the Auto Sentry.
- Remove the 3 nuts holding the security plate behind the contactless reader. Then remove the 4 standoffs holding the contactless reader. Remove the contactless reader from the Auto Sentry wall, disconnect both cables, and remove the contactless reader from the Auto Sentry. Do not save the standoffs, they will be replaced with nuts included (11/32”) when mounting the blocker plate.
- Remove the wire harness remaining for all 3 components, it is no longer connected to anything. Take the power black/yellow power cable and the green/yellow ground cable, both originally from the card reader and still in the Auto Sentry, and tuck them out of the way near the main wire harness.
Installation and Reassembly
- Mount the blocker plates for the contactless reader and the card reader. They mount on the same 4 studs used for both readers. Use 4 ea. nuts included (11/32”) for contactless reader blocker plate. Use 4 ea. Nuts (3/8”) for the card reader blocker plate.
Attach the included USB cable to the card reader. Mount the new card reader assembly over the same four screw studs as the old pinpad removed. Then add one of the brackets over the top 2 studs, and the other bracket over the bottom two studs. The brackets overlap the top and bottom edge of both the silver plate and black plate of the assembly. Secure the card reader in place with 4 ea. Nuts (11/32”). Route the USB cable to the right side of the Auto Sentry toward the motherboard.
- Install the touch screen. Be sure the side with the ‘viewing face” label is toward the front of the Auto Sentry. The bottom of the glass will rest on top of three standoffs that have clear rubber tubing around them. Be sure the ribbon cable is pointed up. Hold the glass in place until the touch screen bracket is installed. Be careful to avoid getting fingerprints on the touch screen. If it needs to be cleaned, use an ammonia-free glass cleaner and a micro-fiber cloth.
- Attach the touch screen metal bezel. The side with the thinner, darker color foam will go toward the touch screen. Also, the long side of the bezel with three cut-outs is the top, the side with two cut-outs is the bottom.
- Align the six screw holes in the bezel with the six standoffs on the front of the Auto Sentry and install the 6 nuts (3/8”).
- Tighten the screws until the distance between the front wall of the Auto Sentry and the trailing edge of the bezel is ½ inch.
- Re-install the display bracket. Be careful not to hit the touch screen or pinch the ribbon cable between the display and the touch screen. Secure the display bracket with the five bolts (7/16”).
- Re-install the angled-bracket underneath the display bracket with the same hardware removed earlier (7/16”).
- Re-install the angled L-bracket between the display bracket and the center security wall. Use the opposite method to install – start the bracket on the stud on the display bracket first, then rotate counter-clockwise onto the screw stud on the center security wall. Attach the nuts and washers but do not tighten (7/16”).
- Re-attach the three cables to the LCD panel and the touch screen control card – backlight power cable, USB cable, and ribbon cable from the touch screen.
- Re-install the four nuts (7/16”) and washers on the four screw studs holding the center security wall, but do not tighten. Tighten the L-bracket to the security wall first, then tighten the L-bracket to the display bracket, then tighten the four nuts for the security wall.
- Re-install the left security wall. Insert through the door opening on an angle. Be careful not to hit the standoffs for mounting the bill acceptor. Re-install the top and bottom retaining brackets, the four sets of nuts (7/16”) and washers. Tighten the wall in place.
- Reconnect the two cables for the bill acceptor and re-install the bill acceptor. Attach the bottom of the bill acceptor to the two screws loosened at the bottom, then push onto the standoffs at the top. Attach the nuts (11/32”) to the standoffs. Then tighten the screws on the bottom with a Phillips screwdriver. Be sure not to pinch any wires behind the bill acceptor.
- Re-install the printer to the printer bracket and push the two blue buttons until they snap into place.
- Re-install the motherboard. See the slotted holes on the back of the motherboard. Position those two holes over the screw pins on the right wall inside the Auto Sentry and push forward. Align the screw holes on the back edge of the motherboard with the two standoffs on the right wall of the Auto Sentry. Install the two screws and tighten them with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Re-attach the LVDS cable from the motherboard to the back of the LCD panel. Reconnect the power connectors for the motherboard.
- Re-attach all other cables to the motherboard exactly as they were before you started. Attach the cable from the new card reader to any open USB port on the motherboard.
- Re-install the coin hopper drawer. Re-attach the cable chain with cable. Plug in the coin hopper cable and re-secure to the coin hopper drawer.
- Return power to the Auto Sentry by turning on the breaker in the distribution box. Then turn the Auto Sentry on.
