CSD Port Identification and Layout

The ports below are located on the bottom of the CSD.

Power Wiring

NOTE: It is imperative that the power terminations are done correctly in order to not permanently damage the device.

1. Locate the DC terminal block (H) on the bottom of the CSD and loosen the two flat head screws and wiggle out the block. Take note of the +/- termination points listed on the sticker below the block.
   
   
    
2. Locate the 24V DC Power Supply (B). One end of the supply cable has metal ferrule ends.
   
   
    
3. Insert the red (24V+) into the left-most terminal and the black (24V-) into the middle terminal and tighten down the top flat head screws to secure the ferrules into the block.
   
   
   
4.  Insert the DC terminal block (H) into the CSD and tighten each flathead screw to secure the block to the CSD.
    

Connection Diagram

 

CSD to Fuel POS Typical Connection Sequence:

• Connect DB9 Serial Cable (D) to CSD COM Port 1 (L).

• Connect DB9 Surge Protector (E) to the DB9 Serial Cable.

• Connect DB9 / RJ45 Adapter (F) to the DB9 Surge Protector.

• Connect DB9 / RJ45 Serial Interface Cable (C) to the DB9/RJ45 adapter.

  • There is an RJ45 / RJ12 version of this cable available – Part # KRC54160132.

• Connect Serial Interface Cable to Fuel POS.
  
  NOTE: In some instances, OEM adapters from POS manufacturers (Gilbarco and VeriFone) may be required after the Surge Protector.

CSD to Optional Receipt Printer:

• Only serial printers are supported.

• Connect serial cable to Com Port 2 (M) and then connect the other end to the printer.

DB9 / RJ45 Adapter Pinout

• The wires inside the adapter need to be inserted into the rear of the female DB9 end.

• Use a small flathead screwdriver to pop the female DB9 end loose from the adapter, and it should look like the below image on the left.

• The below image on the right is what the rear side of the DB9 female end looks like. Note that pin 1 is on the top left and pin 9 is on the bottom right in this orientation. Numbers are stamped on the front and rear of the block, but they are very small.

• Insert each ferrule end into the DB9 rear per the diagram below. The end will connect into place. Gently tug on the wire to ensure it is seated all the way.

NOTE:

• Pins 1 and 9 are not used in this configuration.
• The blue wire inside the DB9 / RJ45 adapter is not used and can be tucked inside.
• To make a null modem adapter, simply flip pins 2 and 3 (RXD and TXD). Black will be pin 2, Orange will be pin 3. The rest of the pinout is the same.
