This document provides step-by-step instructions to troubleshoot bill dispenser communication issues.
WARNING: Power down the Auto Sentry by shutting down Windows, turning off the AC power button, and turning off the 10-amp breaker before performing any troubleshooting, unless specified in a step below. Failure to do so may permanently damage the onboard communication of the bill dispenser and/or the communication port on the motherboard.

Verify wiring
- Inspect the communication cable and pigtail from the bill dispenser to the motherboard for any damage.
- Replace any damaged cables.
- Reseat the communication cable on the motherboard, on the bill dispenser, and at the pigtail connection.
- Inspect the power cable and pigtail from the bill dispenser to the power supply for any damage.
- Replace any damaged cables.

- Inspect the communication cable and pigtail from the bill dispenser to the motherboard for any damage.
-
Verify and adjust voltages
- Power on the Auto Sentry
- Using a multimeter, verify the voltages at the power supply.
- The following voltages should be checked for each specific bill dispenser type.
-
GenMega
- 24VDC and 5VDC
-
Fujitsu F100 and F400
- 24VDC and 5VDC
-
Talaris / Delarue NMD50
- 36VDC and 12VDC
-
MultiMech
- 24VDC
-
GenMega
- The following voltages should be checked for each specific bill dispenser type.
- Adjust voltages within +0.1VDC on the Auto Sentry power supply using the adjustment dial.
WARNING: Be sure to make very slight adjustments to the dial which will prevent increasing the voltage too much. Overvoltage will damage the bill dispenser or any other component using the same voltage.
- Example adjustment
- The 24VDC is currently reading 23.8VDC on the multimeter. Make a very slight adjustment to bring the voltage to 24.1VDC.
-
Test the bill dispenser
- Start the Touch software on the Auto Sentry.
- Insert bills into the bill acceptor and hit cancel on the screen.
- If the bill dispenser dispenses bills, you have been successful with your troubleshooting.
- If the bill dispenser does not dispense bills, contact ICS Technical Support at 1-800-246-3469.
