ADDING A MOTHERBOARD

We estimate that it will take 15 minutes to perform this procedure, time will vary based on skill set.
NOTE: Keep all hardware organized as you work.
Parts Included
Powering Down the Digital Menu Sign
WARNING: Failure to turn off the Sign increases the risk of serious bodily injury or death.
- On the site server desktop, click on the VNC icon for the Digital Menu sign.
- On the menu bar, click the Windows flag icon.
- Click the Shutdown button.
- Wait until the Digital Menu Sign’s display goes to a white screen.
- Open the rear door of the Digital Menu Sign.
- Turn off both breakers inside the sign by clicking the blue buttons on the breakers until they click
out. - Inside the Digital Menu Sign on the 2-pole breaker for the air conditioner, flip the switch down to
power off. - Shut off the electricity to the Digital Menu Sign by turning the sign’s breaker off inside the ICS
power distribution box. - Shut off the electricity to the air conditioner/heat exchanger for the Digital Menu Sign at the site’s
main electrical service panel.
Installing the Motherboard
- Attach the new hard drive and hard drive mounting bracket to the upper right corner of the component board using the screws provided.
- Position the fan on the motherboard in the upper right corner, and secure the new motherboard to the middle of the component panel as shown below using the four screws from the old motherboard, one screw in each corner.
- Locate the keyboard and mouse wireless dongle inside the battery compartment inside the mouse. Attach the dongle to any available USB port on the motherboard in the lower left corner of the interior of the sign.
- Turn on both the mouse and keyboard.
- Attach the new 12V DC power cable on the left side of the motherboard. (Disregard the touch screen cable shown in the picture below. Your sign does not have a touch screen.)
- Attach the new HDMI cable to the HDMI port at the bottom right corner of the motherboard. Attach the other end of the HDMI cable to the video control card.
- Attach the new 12V DC power cable to the power supply. The yellow wire goes to the 12V+ connection on the power supply. The black 12V- wire (black) must go to 12V COM connection on the power supply, NOT the 12V- connection. Then attach the 12V DC power cable to the video
control board.
- Attach the network cable to the network port labelled 10.0.0.70.
- Attach the new SATA power and SATA data cables to the hard drive in the upper right corner of the component bracket. Attach the new SATA power and data cables to the upper left corner of motherboard.
- The small white plug on the power cable goes to the white jack on the motherboard
- The black plug on the data cable goes to the black jack on the motherboard.
Powering On the Sign
WARNING: KEEP THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT IN A VERTICAL POSITION. IF YOU LAY IT DOWN, PLACE IT BACK IN A VERTICAL POSITION FOR 24 HOURS PRIOR TO POWERING IT ON.
- Turn on the electricity to the Sign by turning on the breaker inside the main service electrical panel.
- Turn on the electricity to the Sign by turning on the breaker inside the ICS power distribution box.
- Turn on the breakers inside the Sign by clicking the blue buttons until they click in.
- On the 2-pole breaker for the air conditioner, flip up the switch to turn on.
- Close the rear door of the Sign.
